From furnace installations to furnace replacements, we’ve got you covered! Having the right type of furnace installed for your space has many benefits, including saving you money on your utility bills.

What Is A Furnace?

Understanding the complexity of HVAC systems can become overwhelming. For example, many people think furnaces and boilers are the same HVAC components, just with different names. While these machines work to heat up a space, they are actually completely different mechanisms.

A furnace is a device that helps heat up space by circulating hot air. On the other hand, a boiler heats up space by circulating hot water. With a furnace being an integral part of heating up your home or business, it’s important to make sure you schedule regular furnace maintenance. A well taken care of furnace can easily last at least 20 years.

What Are The Different Types Of Furnaces?

An efficient furnace helps ensure that your space is heated quickly while reducing energy consumption. Having an energy-efficient furnace means you could save big on your utility bills.

  1. Propane Furnace
    • A propane furnace utilizes a heat exchanger, which transfers heat into the pathway of air that will be blown into a room. The blower unit then takes that heated air and pushes it through your air ducts. This process continues until the desired indoor temperature is reached.
  2. Gas Furnace
    • Gas furnaces, also known as natural gas furnaces, are currently one of the most popular types of furnaces. Gas furnaces work by using gas to ignite a burner. This flame steadily raises the temperature of the air within your HVAC system, which is then circulated through your air ducts until it reaches the desired destination. Gas is a fairly affordable option compared to other forms of energy, which is a reason why this type of furnace is so popular.
  3. Electric Furnace
    • If your HVAC system detects that the indoor temperature has fallen below the desired amount, a signal is sent to begin the heating process. A pump blows outside air into your HVAC system, where it travels over heated elements such as heated coils. As the external air passes over these elements, it begins to heat up. The heated air is then forced through your air ducts and into the desired room.
  4. Oil Furnace
    • The idea of an oil furnace is fairly similar to that of a gas or electric furnace. Oil furnaces use fuel to heat up air before it’s pushed into the desired rooms. The difference between oil furnaces and gas and electric furnaces, is that oil furnaces use oil as the fuel to create heat.
  5. Modulating Furnace
    • Although modulating furnaces cost more than other options, many people find that the benefits are worth the price. Modulating furnaces adjust the amount of gas burned to reach the desired indoor temperature. Instead of turning off and back on, modulating furnaces continually run while making adjustments to ensure that the desired temperature is always achieved. Less energy waste means lower energy bills.
